Double application: 

As a PRE-SHAMPOO TREATMENT: on dry hair for strong exfoliation or wet hair for gentle exfoliation. Use the applicator tip to part the hair and apply the product to the scalp along each parting, one row at a time. Massage the scalp, then rinse thoroughly and shampoo the hair.

As an EXFOLIATING SHAMPOO: for an express treatment.
