R78 | Conjunctivitis, cataracts (oral administration)
Indications
Chronic conjunctivitis, catarrhal conjunctivitis; blepharitis, hordeolum; opacity of the vitreum, cataracts; diplopia.
Mode of action
Aconitum: Conjunctivitis after exposure to cold, dry environment; inflammation with copious, thin discharge; photophobia. Acute remedy for wounds and foreign bodies in the eyes; simple eyestrain.
Apis: Stabbing, burning pains in the eyes; swelling around the eyes; conjunctival swelling, ameliorated by cold applications; inflammation of the eyes.
Belladonna: Conjunctivitis; conjunctival infection; blepharitis, exophthalmos (right-sided).
Euphorbia cyparissias: Irritation of the mucous membranes causing intense prickling and burning sensations.
Euphorbium: Violent irritation of the mucous membranes, causing catarrh of the eye; catarrhal conjunctivitis.
Euphrasia: Eyestrain, photophobia; conjunctivitis, eyes are burning, irritated, increased lacrimation with copious, thin discharge; blepharitis, ciliaris; corneal ulcers.
Hamamelis: Vitreous haemorrhage; eyestrain; contusions about the eye.
Kalium carbonicum: Swelling of the upper or lower eyelids; ptosis; conjunctival edema especially if caused by allergies.
Mercurius bijodatus: Blepharitis with chronic granulations, ciliaris, iritis; left-sided neuralgia.
Rhus toxicodendron: Conjunctivitis with swelling of the eyelids and muco-purulent discharge.
Ruta: Diplopia caused by eyestrain; general stiffness around the eyes caused by and worse from exerting the eyes.
Scrophularia nodosa: Tubercular eye conditions.
Spigelia anthelmia: Catarrhal conjunctivitis; glaucoma, iritis; left ciliary neuralgia; stabbing pains in the eye; spasm of the eyelid.
Staphysagria: Hordeolum, chalazion; styes or tumors on the eyelids; laceration or incisions to the eyes; twitching of the eyelids.
Sulfur: Conjunctivitis with the sensation of sand or grit in the eyes; blepharitis, styes; redness, burning, and irritation of the lid margins.

Clinical experience
- R62 is also indicated in cases of conjunctivitis.
- Cataracts, for the initial stages only.
- During allergy season, watery, inflamed, itchy eyes.
- Dilute R94 1:10 with water to cleanse the eyes, 2-3 times daily.
- Tired eyes, eye strain, and glaucoma.
- Acutely, 5-10 drops 6 times daily.
